Jamf Connect is an add-on product to Jamf Pro, Distinctive School's management system of choice for all of our Apple branded devices.
One of Jamf Connect's primary purposes is to unify your DS Google account credentials with your local Mac account credentials; creating the experience of a single synced password.
- Employees who were issued a new MacBook, or a replacement MacBook, anytime during the 23/24 school year should already be familiar with Jamf Connect, based on the unique DS-managed Google login screen upon startup:
- In this case, upon first login, JAMF connects creates a brand new local Mac user based on the username of your DS Google account.
- Example: address "testemployee@distinctivesch...." generates a Mac account username "testemployee"
- Employees who were issued a MacBook prior to the 23/24 school year will have Jamf Connect installed as part of our Summer '24 refresh.
What to expect:
- The Jamf Connect deployment will be installed by the DS IT department when you turn in the device for the summer, or in some cases remotely (and complete installation while you are actively using it).
- After remote installation, next time you fully log out of your Mac (or reboot), you will see the managed Distinctive login window for the first time.
- Sign in with your full DS Google Credentials
- If the Mac account name you've been using doesn't exactly match your DS Google username, you will be asked to choose your account.
- In this example, the login email used was "testemployee@dist..." but the previously established Mac account name was "t_employee"
- Click "Connect" on your Mac account, then enter the local Mac password you've used up until now
- Congrats! Jamf Connect has now changed your previous Mac password to match your DS password, and you will be brought to your very familiar desktop.
- From here on out, you will your DS password for both instances.
- If the Mac account name you've been using doesn't exactly match your DS Google username, you will be asked to choose your account.
